In 2024, we are founding the Vienna Vision Symphonics, a new orchestra with a visionary and progressive outlook on orchestral music and musical innovation.

Stay tuned for our debut and more!

DONOVAN CITY FALL

"An orphan, isolated from society, finds comfort in an online forum filled with likewise isolated people sharing analog horror stories. His mind starts deteriorating as his dreams show him visions of prophecies and occurrences indicating not only his doom but that of humanity. Unable to cope with his visions, they take over his mind until he succumbs entirely, inevitably enabling humanity's doom."

The art of horror film has been an interest of mine for some years now, and with this film I wanted to create an original approach at the concept of the uncanny valley, specifically in musical terms, as originally that concept is purely based on visual perception, not on sound or music. In context of the film, the score in itself is woven into the diegesis by acting as the voice of an eldritch entity. For the film, I wanted to create a fusion between the genre of analog horror and traditional filmmaking.

ONE LAST LAUGH

"In "One Last Laugh", a successful ghostwriter struggles to find the words for his grandfather’s eulogy when the mischievous ghost of Granddad returns to give him some advice. The music to "One Last Laugh" was inspired by composers such as Alan Silvestri, Thomas Newman and Elmer Bernstein. It was important to not only emphasize the fantastical and comedic side of the film, but also the emotional and heartfelt relationship between the protagonist and his grandfather."

Being a comedy film, the score needed to have a big range in genres while having the same style. I recorded a big portion of the score as a hybrid score with live strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion for various different cues. The main theme also featured a piano.

BIRD AND WHALE

"When this man tells her that he wanted to devote himself to one person for his whole life, Zhizhi hesitated. Her original plan is to stay in London for six months before moving on to her next destination.

If love only needs to enjoy the joy of the moment, without heavy responsibilities, wouldn't it be much easier? They are sinking and lost in the relationship, trying to find their way in the future..."

My approach for the score for Bird and Whale was minimalistic and consisted mostly of piano with solo strings. In the film's climax I recorded a 41-piece live string orchestra with woodwinds.
